The origins of Cemcorp go back to the late 1800’s when William Coulter Sr. and George Booth joined forces to form a coppersmith company. Over the years, the company evolved, becoming Coulter Copper & Brass with leadership being passed from father to son. Michael Coulter took over the company in 1976 and over the next 8 years he changed the company’s focus to work solely in engineering and project management. In 2013, Steve and Dina Harkness took over Cemcorp and it was important for them that Cemcorp’s business operations respect the hard work and dedication Mike Coulter had applied from the beginning. In 2015, Mike passed away, but his vision and core values have carried on. The entire Cemcorp team was committed to continuing the company’s successful business operations into the future. Their promise to staying small fosters a client forward attitude. By pairing this with great engineering practices that are ISO 9001 certified, Cemcorp provides its clients with a one stop shop for all their engineering needs.
Cemcorp’s team consists of specialized professionals and engineering specialists. Operating as a small sized company allows Cemcorp to be extremely flexible when tailoring its clients’ engineering and project needs. This also allows for a streamlined process and better communication as information can be passed on more efficiently, both internally and with clients.

Beyond the technical and theoretical, Cemcorp is involved with and sponsors brewery and distillery associations, such as the MBAA. They participate in CSA Committees to consult on the future of engineering code. Moreover, Cemcorp gives back to the engineering profession by passing on knowledge to EITs and through co-op mentorship programs.
Although the world has changed over the last 40 years, Cemcorp stays committed to providing quality professional engineering services. The Cemcorp team is overjoyed to celebrate its 40th year and equally excited about where the next 40 years will take them.
