CEMCORP 1853 - Present Day

From our humble beginnings, Cemcorp Ltd. has flourished into an internationally respected organization, offering a wide variety of engineering services. Our company has been a century in the making, rooted deeply in Canadian history and contributing to the engineering industry. Since the First World War to the present day we have continued to thrive, setting the standard for five generations and more to come.

2026 –

After twelve and a half years of being at 2181 Dunwin Drive we were given the opportunity to change locations, and we’re so happy we did. We are now located at 2255 Dundas St. W., Suite 311 in the Skyward Business Centre.

2024 –

On March 16, 2024 Cemcorp Ltd. celebrated its 40 year anniversary.

2016 –

Collaboration with Installcorp Ltd. launched to add more value to clients by added offering of design/build related services.

2013 –

Steve joins Cemcorp Ltd. in April, prompting Michael and Steve to reach an agreement where SDH Strategies Inc. acquires Cemcorp Ltd. Mike Coulter stayed on as a Senior Consultant with Cemcorp Ltd. right up until he passed away in May 2015 to ensure that the company continued to flourish as a legacy for many more years.

2009 –

Steve and Dina Harkness start a new business venture and call it SDH Strategies Inc.

1991 –

Mike Coulter and Steve Harkness meet at Redpath and became friends. Redpath was using the services of Cemcorp Ltd. for sugar capacity expansions.

1984 –

Michael Coulter lets go of all manufacturing capabilities to focus solely on the engineering and project management aspects of his new business, forming what we all know today as Cemcorp Ltd.

1981 –

The Coulter Copper & Brass Co. continued until they merged with Tri-Canada Manufacturing. Tri-Canada Manufacturing was later acquired by a large American multi-national company.

1976 –

Michael A. Coulter takes over as President and the company once again becomes divided as Terry Coulter leaves to carry on his swimming pool and accessories business that was started in 1959.

1956 –

Warren R. Coulter takes over as President and is later joined by his two sons Terry and Michael A. Coulter.

1923 –

The Coulter family buys out the Booth family and renames the company Coulter Copper & Brass Co. Ltd.

1914 –

With the outbreak of World War 1 the Booth & Coulter Co. began manufacturing munitions for the war effort. This continued until the war ended and they returned to their original services.

1907 –

Booth’s company and Coulter's company merge together with George Booth as President and William Coulter Sr. as Vice President. At this time Coulter's two sons William Jr. and Albert were fully involved with the business that now offered a variety of services from brass foundry to stamping press operations.

1886 –

William Coulter Sr. becomes a master of his craft and creates a new business with a fellow coppersmith. They named their new company Coulter & Campbell Co.

1870 –

George Booth, Henry Booth’s son, takes over the business and recruits William Coulter Sr. as his apprentice.

1853 –

The modest beginnings of Cemcorp Ltd start with Henry Gough Booth, an Englishman who opened Booth & Sons. Booth was a coppersmith and brazier, offering his services to the public in Toronto, Canada.
